At the beginning of the school year, College board released a calendar based on which AP test would take place on what day for this years exams. College board is an American non-profit organization formed to expand access to higher education for students. By taking these tests and scoring a 3 or above, students have the opportunity to earn college credit (depending on the major and college). Each test begins at 8 a.m. or 12 p.m.
With 26 AP courses offered on campus, according to Principal Charles Park, this year, 698 students are taking 1556 exams.
“Our AP program has trended upwards with higher AP participation rate and also passing rate at the same time,” Park said.
As of this year, students can take their AP tests free of charge. According to College board, AP tests cost $99 in the U.S. Park believes that ensuring that these tests are free encourages students to challenge themselves to take them.
“Most importantly, I want students to challenge themselves and try what is difficult because I believe that students grow and develop life skills and grit when they challenge themselves,” Park said.
If students can not make it to the day of their AP test and would like to schedule a makeup date, reach out to counselor Lauren Brandt at [email protected] by April 30.
