Abbigale Valdovinos is new to the swim team, however she was previously on the girls water polo team. Although this is her first and last season on the team, being that she is currently a senior, she has a significant responsibility on the team.

“The events I usually swim are freestyle but sometimes I´ll do butterfly also. I also participate in relays with my other teammates,” Valdovinos said.

Thus far, her season going great. There have been noticeable improvements in all areas within the team that encourage Valdovinos to continue pushing herself and her team toward victory.

“So far, I’ve seen the team as a whole improve so much which gets me excited for the rest of the season. We’ve had a few wins so far and I hope that continues as we progress further into the season,” Valdovinos said.

There have also been personal successes, aside from the team for Valdovinos throughout the season.

“Being able to win first place in relays and individual races is an accomplishment that I’m proud of. Going on, I would like to win races where I swim butterfly because it is much more difficult and tiresome,” Valdovinos said.

As for the team, there are goals to be achieved throughout their season. Valdovinos is looking forward to fulfilling these goals with her teammates and feels they are off to a good start. She has also set personal goals to achieve during the season.

“As a team we are striving to get more wins for the season and hopefully get some of us to CIF. A personal goal I have is to cut down my times and perfect my strokes,” Valdovinos said.

Valdovinos had a few words of encouragement for her team to pull through and finish their season off strong.

“Commit. If you give your everything, then you’re sure to improve.”
