Fans of the clippers had gotten one of their previous superstars back just in time for his final season and it would seem as if Chris Paul would retire as a Clipper.
During Paul’s time with the Clippers, he averaged around 18.8 points, 9.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds from 2011 to 2017.Since then he bounced from team to team in the NBA from Phoenix Suns, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State warriors and San Antonio Spurs. After he finished the 2024-2025 season with the Golden State Warriors he later tested free agency where players are offered money to join a team and eventually had a reunion signing with the Clippers and returning to his old team.
According to Shams Charania, an NBA insider, announced on the morning of Dec. 3 that the Clippers were parting ways with Paul, which the team had announced to the commissioners.
The Clippers organization released a statement saying that Paul did not work well with them as a team and that there was ongoing drama with head coach Tyronn Lue that wasn’t made public, which resulted in the two not talking for several weeks.
What looked like a reunion with the franchise and Paul as well as a farewell tour, resulting in Paul being cut, was one of the most unexpected events to happen in the NBA.
