During the World Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers trailed the Toronto Blue Jays until the top of the inning 9, when the Dodgers’ second baseman, Miguel Rojas, tied the game with a solo home run. The Dodgers and Blue Jays fought hard until the top of the 11, where the Dodgers’ catcher, Will Smith, hit the game-winning solo home run. The Dodgers clinched the World Series in a 5-4 victory.

Following the win, the Dodgers hosted a parade celebrating their World Series victory. Yesterday, from 11 a.m. to noon, thousands of fans lined the streets as players and coaches rode double-decker buses along the parade route from Temple Street and Broadway to Dodger Stadium. Spectators cheered as they saw their favorite players drive past, following the win from Saturday night.
With the Dodgers having a big fan base on campus, sophomore Emily Leano was at the parade with her family.
“I was most excited to see Yoshinobu Yamamoto. He was MVP,” Leano said.
Yamamoto won most valuable player award (MVP) after he pitched 17.2 innings in the series, allowing only two earned runs while striking out 15 batters. In Game Seven, he pitched 2.2 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win and help the Dodgers clinch the championship.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are the first team to win back-to-back titles in 25 years, following the Yankees’ title wins in 1998-2000.
