Junior Nayeli Sotelo dresses in an asymmetrical black top and Aeropostale jeans, along with gold accents to accessorize. Sotelo’s style ranges from cutesy to street wear, and every day she plans her outfits based on what her day may consist of and her mood. If she’s feeling down, she tries to counter it, embodying the “look good, feel good” mentality. “I’ll actually put a cuter outfit on to feel better,” Sotelo said.

From vintage pieces to oversized hoodies, students on campus express their energy and personality through diverse ways of dressing and styles. Different trends, grade levels, and mindsets influence the way students dress on the daily. Here’s a look into student fashion and some outfit inspiration on our campus.

Being “alternative” in high school
Seniors Christopher Buhac, Issac Ojeda, Christian Rosatty and Dylan Burks on their last day of being in the band classroom before graduation. “It was a really great experience being able to make so many friends, meet so many new people, and make a relationship with those people,” Buhac said.

Junior Joshua Ling completes a shoulder workout, pressing 55lbs in his at-home gym. Getting enough sleep and eating healthy throughout the day helps him feel energized to push through his workouts, stay strong, and build muscle. “If you get the right amount of sleep, your body feels light, you can move, your joints are all good, and it feels like you're in the zone,” Ling said.

Senior couples discuss plans after graduation
Junior Julie Cimarusti, cooked two eggs, steak, with strawberry yogurt and a protein shake on the side. This meal is packed with protein throughout and low in carbs to increase fullness and support muscle recovery. “This is the meal I made the day after weigh-ins at world team trials. I needed to refuel my body with lots of protein because it was lacking after cutting weight,” Cimarusti said.

The ceremony begins with graduates seated alongside Top 30 Junior Honor Guard recipients standing by. These juniors are chosen based on having the highest academic achievement status and per tradition, leads the graduates out onto the field.

Sunset fades, memories stay
Starbucks, is a convenient study spot due to its widespread locations, with the closest to campus located on Vincent Ave. in West Covina. There are perks of picking this cafe as it has free Wi-Fi, and food and beverages like refreshers, which are caffeinated beverages with flavored fruit blends, coffee and snacks for a boost of energy. There are also different sized tables for group or individual study use. At Starbucks, customers commonly work there, providing motivation to also complete their work. Sophomore Brianna Espinoza enjoys studying at Starbucks to study before a big test or assignment. “I enjoy doing my work there because it is very peaceful and they have drinks and snacks, and going with my sister is fun. We talk in the middle of our work and get it done,” Espinoza said.
