I’m Jacob Garcia, senior student and Insight staff writer. This is my second year in journalism. I love to listen to music, write what interests me, hang out with my friends, and take photos. I hope to make this year as staff writer in this program more memorable for me!

Sophomore Daniel Vo looks over his HOBY submission. He did prior research about the program before filling out an essay to learn more about the cause and what the program holds. He was fascinated by the nationwide scale of the event and the opportunity that it presents. “I want to go into more stuff like that, and use the connections or the people or the resources I get from there to expand on what I’m currently doing,” said Vo.

The official HOBY website of the Hugh O’Brian Foundation which features many of the schools and alumni that have participated with the program in the past. Over 5,000 schools in and outside the United States have participated in the program with more than 8,500 students taking part every year.

Sketches of Aphrodite, a Greek goddess, for upcoming promotional Homecoming panels designed by sophomore Sanna Ingram, a student in art teacher Christine Schwandt’s Art II class. Aphrodite is well known for representing love and passion, with a special ability to bring people in with desire. Despite many people having a negative view of the theme, these panels are made to encompass more of an artistic view and attract more students.
