Tesla malfunctions increase incidents
February 24, 2023
As car technology continues to develop, drivers now have many options available to them, such as Tesla, an artificial intelligence company who designed its own electric vehicles. Tesla produced their first model in 2008 in which it could travel 250 miles on a single charge.
Through its popularity, Tesla has sold over 1.91 units since its very beginning according to Investigating.com, a site where a wide variety of global and local finance statistics are provided.
According to Tesla Safety, it recorded one crash for every 6.26 million miles driven in which drivers were using Autopilot technology. For those drivers who were not using Autopilot technology, one crash was recorded for every 1.71 million miles driven.
According to CNN, Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y have been involved in problems such as failing to meet the “motor vehicle safety based on insufficient adherence to safety laws”, that are present with the current version of the FSD software in which causes a car to stop earlier than it should at stop signs.
Serious car damages and personal injuries can result from these accidents. As reported by The Intercept, a news organization, the Tesla Model S vehicle changed lanes and then “abruptly braking in the far-left lane of the San Francisco Bay Bridge, resulting in an eight-vehicle crash.”
According to Fortune, a global media organization, Teslas with automated driving systems are steps closer to being recalled after investigations toward elevated collisions with the vehicle take place in public highways.
According to CNN, “FSD Beta system may allow the vehicle to act unsafe around intersections.”
Furthermore while these incidents continue, Tesla has not given an official statement on the car malfunctions.
