It isn’t often that a five-foot-five, 145 pound running back is a focal point of a varsity football team’s offense; in fact, you can even say it is quite rare. That happens to be the case for the Bulldogs, who have looked to star running back Anthony Ramiro to lead the way throughout the first half of the season. The Bulldogs have always been a run heavy offense, but many doubted how effective they would be this season with key players from last year’s team either gone or hurt, but that hasn’t stopped senior Anthony Ramiro from having a stellar start to the season.
“Going into each game, I know I’m one of the smallest players on the field, but I go in with my head held high knowing I have my team behind me,” Ramiro said
This is now his third year on varsity and despite being the smallest player on the field for most games, he has found a way to lead the team in both all purpose yards and touchdowns on the season. Ramiro has been able to do this with his unmatched work ethic and the chip he carries on his shoulder to prove game in and game out that he is one of the best players on the field. He has played great this season and will continue to be a huge part of the Bulldogs’ offense.
“The game takes a toll on my body, but I have a mindset to deal with the pain and not let it affect my love for the sport,” Ramiro said.

Ramiro is extremely tough to contain with his 4.6 speed and his ability to be a dual threat, both in the rushing and passing game. He has great agility which makes him so hard to tackle in the open field just like one of his idols De’Anthony Thomas, who also has a similar body being five-foot-ten and often labeled a small RB and wide receiver. Ramiro would welcome the opportunity to play college ball, but as of right now his main goal is to enjoy the game and for his team to finish strong this season.
“As a whole, the team should improve on communication and continuing to stay focused. We should have no problem finishing the season strong and hopefully winning the rest of our games,” Ramiro said
