Adrian Perez has been playing high school basketball for two years now and has been playing since he was 11 years old. Starting the season off with a 4-1 record, Perez’s team is looking good as the season is progressing. This is his senior year of high school and Perez is making the most of his varsity start.
“My favorite part of basketball is hearing the crowd during the game and the coach’s speech after a win,” Perez said.
Averaging 17 points a game and two assists, Perez is a key player for the Bulldogs. However, this doesn’t come easy. From the weight room to the gym, having practice four days a week, and games in between, it takes a lot of commitment and dedication to be on the basketball team.
Perez’s goal for the season is to win first place in the Hacienda League or tie for first with Los Altos because they are a tough school to beat this year. Additionally, his ultimate goal is to win CIF since his coach won a banner for the school in 2006. He stays focused on himself and tries to rely less on other people during the game of basketball.
“Nobody motivated me to play the game, but I felt this love and interest for this game since I was little,” Perez said.
His favorite player is Kyrie Irving because Irving isn’t that big of a guy or that explosive, but his hard work and focus he has on his craft helped him make it to the NBA, and that’s what Perez is trying to do.
“You don’t have to be the best athlete. You don’t have to be well known. You just have to put in the work and you’ll make it,” Perez said.
He hopes his hard work and dedication lands him an offer to play basketball in college because he loves competition and the big moments basketball has to offer.
