Freshman Daishea Jaime did really well in this year’s past wrestling season. She made it to CIF and recently went to State to compete for a title. During her CIF competition, she went 5-2 and took 9th place out of 36 girls. She wrestles in the 122 weight division, and feels like she can take on her opponents with ease. When asked how she feels about wrestling people she doesn’t know, Jaime stated, “I like to picture my opponents as enemies, to wrestle them better.” She also practices with her older teammates who give her motivation to not give up and keep doing better as her young wrestling career continues.

Jaime has been wrestling for the past five years outside of WCHS with her father and siblings. She practices everyday except Sunday. Although it does take up most of her time, she feels like wrestling is going to get her somewhere in life. Sometimes Jamie feels like she never has time for anything else and wants to quit wrestling, but it is her passion for the sport that pushes her forward. She said, “I love my coaches. They have come to be like family during this past season.” Whenever Jaime wins a match, she likes to celebrate by going out and eating with her family and friends.
Besides doing great in her sport, Jaime also has a 3.0 GPA, which will help her get scholarships as she continues her high school career. Starting off so well as a freshman, Jaime hopes to only get better over her next three years of high school.
