This year Art 2 applied their talents to the 33rd annual Help Keep West Covina Beautiful (HKWCB) contest.  Each student designs a poster in which they presented the idea of keeping West Covina clean and attractive.

“I can’t wait to show my design for this year’s contest,” said Mary Aguirre before the contest.

WCHS students placed in HKWCB. Senior Jesse Mutuc placed second and in third place was junior Priscilla Gonzalez. They also gave a merit award to senior Amanda Escalera.

“My reaction was really shocked because I didn’t expect to win. I figured there were many talented artists that entered the contest,” said Mutuc.

The winners of the contest were granted the opportunity of having their submissions displayed in the West Covina City Hall.

“I was very surprise to see the faces of my students as I announced their names as the winners of the contest,” said art teacher Christine Schwandt.

The HKWCB winners are to receive their awards Saturday June 1 in West Covina Beautiful’s brunch fashion show at the South Hills Country Club.
