Anthony Daher shared that high school taught him how to stay positive and open-minded through difficult times. “There was a lot of negativity surrounding me, and it was definitely the people I hung out with, but just knowing that negativity could help like, push me in the right direction filled me with motivation to keep pushing, regardless of whatever happened,” said Daher. This mindset taught him to be more open with others and to stay away from negativity. For Daher his two friends, seniors Matthew Jimenez and Steven Julio also helped to shape him into who he is today. “They set a standard for me, and being alongside them for a good amount of time in my life has set a point in my life to where I have to meet and I want to meet,” said Daher.

Cross country: Alexander Escalante Alexander Escalante is a four year cross-country athlete and current varsity runner and team captain. Cross country is one of the only sports that has a team that trains year round, causing many to shy away. For him, cross country isn't just a sport, it's a test of strength, discipline and heart, and has taught him that although the sport is painful, he can work through its difficulties. "Some things I like to look back on are honestly all the races I've had throughout the years and how I've come to grow from them, learn from them. They're really great experiences," said Escalante.

Senior Jacob Nguyen has been a baseball player on varsity since his freshman year. Throughout the many games, practices, and memories he has made from being on the baseball team, he has also learned much about responsibility that has helped his life as a student. “So honestly it’s taught me to stay on top of my education, my sports, and to keep a balance between things,” said Nguyen.

Prom court gives seniors the opportunity to fulfill the ideal high school experience, allowing candidates to promote what they've accomplished throughout high school. Seniors Anicia Toscano, Katie Castillo, Maui Tagle, Ashley Carmouche, Analisa Soriano, Daniel Carrillo, Dominic Sanchez, Matthew Vasquez, Daniel Zelaya, and Nathan White are the 2024 prom court candidates. Online voting will open this Friday and will be open to all grades to vote for one of each gender. Prom Queen and King will be announced at prom on Saturday.
