Our school is lucky to be able to have wifi for all sorts of purposes. From teachers being able to locate videos to show to the class, to students finding information about a certain topic during school hours. However, most of this is done on computers either in the library, or laptops from the school. Mobile electronics, such as phones, are able to pick up the wifi in the surrounding area, but need a password to access it.
If a student doesn’t understand certain problems, or a teacher couldn’t get to a question in time before the bell rings, the student could easily hop onto their cell phone with the school wifi and get help instantly. Research can also be done as a huge advantage when it comes to projects or essays. A student could find information about an animal or person within seconds.
The problems that come up are that some students try to look up inappropriate pictures on websites. This can turn into a bad habit and can be shown to other students who would be disturbed by it. Others may already have their own mobile data, so they shouldn’t need school internet. Plus there are also computers in the library for use.
Well, the school wifi blocks certain typed tags and websites that would be of concern. This disables the ability for students to search inappropriate things, and allows use of actual research. Some students don’t have mobile data on their phones, and have to rely on wifi. And if a student has to head to his next class, he won’t have time to go onto a computer, using his phone would be faster while moving.
I managed to get a hold of the school wifi password. It was better than having to run across the campus to the library for a computer. I mainly use it for my Geometry class to search up certain problems that are complicated.
The school wifi is a great way to get information quickly through mobile devices. Why run to the library when you can do a quick search on your phone, because getting work done faster is better?
