Robotics Building Towards Victory

Robotics is known around campus for their impressive robots. The club consists of students from all grade levels building composite robots from scratch and go on to compete in state-wide competitions.

“We have been to world championships in St. Louis and Houston” Daniel Lopez said.

Daniel Lopez is a current senior and has been involved in the robotics club since freshman year.Despite the slow build season, robotics feels that they will be more than ready for their first competition at the end of February.

“We have mainly been focusing on preparing the robot itself and we have set goals for ourselves that we hope to achieve in the upcoming competition” Daniel Lopez said.

Best of luck to robotics who will be attending their first competition of 2018. The competition will be held in Utah, where they will be showcasing their newest robot they have built.

Senior Gabriel Vincent Franco sits at the circle stage and holds a Palestinian flag to raise awareness regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict today. He was anxious to go forward with his plan and discussed it with his parents the night before. “Yesterday I was worried that something would happen, so were my parents… So we talked about it and I thought about it and I came to the decision that I’m not doing anything wrong,” said Franco.
Student expression silenced by administration
Juniors Hazel Borja and Katherine Barbosa-Calel check their social media and message their friends while waiting for school to start. “Phones are crucial to my daily routine… I feel a physical attachment to my phone since it’s so heavily integrated in my everyday routine” said Borja.

New parking lot that opened on Dec. 1 provides students with more long requested parking. No parents are seen picking up students at the end of the school day despite the expectation that its arrival would help cut down on morning traffic. Administration remains hopeful that it will assist in congestion as more people become familiar with its existence.
