For the first time ever, Best Buddies Prom made its way to WCHS. The event is usually hosted by Glendora High School. but they decided not to this year, so WCHS was given the honor to host. Best Buddies chapters from five local schools were invited, including Azusa, Glendora, Walnut, Rowland, and Diamond Bar. Overall, about 230 students and chaperones attended Best Buddies Prom.
WCHS’ whole campus worked together to make this event possible. Along with Renaissance’s rally decorations, Best Buddies was able to create an atmosphere that allowed all who attended to have memories to “infinity and beyond”. The Spanish Honor Society also pitched in manning the game booths for everyone to enjoy. The games included a ring toss, pin the tail on the donkey, basketball, and more. The Drama department contributed the lighting for the event. Food was also served by The Hospitality Club and catered by Dalia’s Pizza.
Students who attended both Best Buddies Prom and Prom “Operation 0017: The Golden Night” went as far as to say that it was a better than their prom.
“I enjoyed it because i felt like I could be 8 again. Nobody there judged. Everyone was just having fun.” senior Omar Cardenas said.
