Many changes have taken place this upcoming year to Bulldog Country with up to 14 new teachers, three assistant principals and one dean. Each one has his or her own set of responsibilities to handle on campus. Even with the three assistant principals, there still are the same amount of administrators on campus.
One of the new assistant principals is April Leon.
You probably recognize Leon from when she was a class council adviser, and math teacher here at West Covina or back at a Walnut Grove Middle School. Before she became a teacher she worked in three long term subbing positions; she has worked in all the middle schools in the district. Leon had spent seven years in the classroom before she became assistant principal.
As a new assistant principal, one of Leon’s goals is to learn as much as she can and be the best support she can be to the teachers and students. Being offered to come back to WCHS as assistant principal was a good opportunity for Leon.
“This is the place where I want to be, WCHS is a good place for me to be and I’m really glad to be back,” said Leon.
What she loves most about this school is the students. Leon doesn’t plan on doing much of a difference from past administrators, but she does plan on growing as an administrator by finding out the many needs are from the students, staff, and teachers.
