Hi, I’m Sofia Trujillo, assistant editor and a junior. I’m on the dance team and enjoy riding horses on the weekend. I love spending time at the gym, trying new coffee shops and going out with family and friends. I’m looking forward to working with everyone this new school year!

I take in the gorgeous view from The Seattle Great Wheel, a popular tourist attraction located on Pier 57 that stands 175 feet tall. It was intimidating to get on this tall attraction, but I really enjoyed spinning around and watching as the ocean sparkled beneath.

Starbucks, is a convenient study spot due to its widespread locations, with the closest to campus located on Vincent Ave. in West Covina. There are perks of picking this cafe as it has free Wi-Fi, and food and beverages like refreshers, which are caffeinated beverages with flavored fruit blends, coffee and snacks for a boost of energy. There are also different sized tables for group or individual study use. At Starbucks, customers commonly work there, providing motivation to also complete their work. Sophomore Brianna Espinoza enjoys studying at Starbucks to study before a big test or assignment. “I enjoy doing my work there because it is very peaceful and they have drinks and snacks, and going with my sister is fun. We talk in the middle of our work and get it done,” Espinoza said.

Junior Tony Hoang is the president of the club. His passion for investing led him to create this club, which aims to to teach high schoolers financial literacy and the fundamentals of investing. As the president, he manages and runs the club planning and keeping everything in order. “I handle all the club’s paperwork, plan events, organize activities, and fundraisers,” said Hoang.

Efran Pascasio performs deadlifts at Gold’s Gym on Jan. 8 and lifts a total weight of 725 pounds. Pascasio has a busy schedule consisting of a full time job, managing his family and working out. Sophomore Divine Lane shares her thoughts on the pressures around drug use. Lane credits a part of her worries about drug use to the new and deadly drug, Fentanyl. Teenagers can risk their lives by not knowing if the substances they use are laced. “You now have to be a lot more careful about using drugs because everything is laced and that can always become a big thing. I personally don’t want to encounter that and risk my life for doing it, so I just think it's important to just be careful,” said Lane.
