 A modern classic Christmas movie would definitely be “Elf,” starring Will Ferrell. It is a movie about an adopted elf named Buddy who was raised in the North Pole by Papa Elf. He goes to New York where he eats spaghetti, works in a shiny mailroom, and eventually saves Christmas, all while trying to find himself. Buddy also falls in love with an employee of a department store named Jovie, played by Zooey Deschanel. With not a clue of how the city life runs, Buddy manages to get himself and others into awkward situations and, in some cases, unintentional trouble. Buddy tries to blend in with everyone else, but instead of taking the Christmas spirit out of him, he spreads it to the most unreachable people.  When he feels he is useless to everyone in New York, he runs away and finds one person that understands him and needs his help, Santa. Buddy uses his elf skills to get Santa’s sleigh running and makes everyone Christmas and Santa believers again. This movie offers comedy and a great story line. It gets everyone in the Christmas spirit needed to make Santa’s sleigh fly as the holidays come around West Covina.
