FOOD REVIEW: Fonda Don Chon, Authentic Mexican Cuisine

Fonda Don Chon, located at 618 Shoppers Lane Covina, offers a variety of authentic Mexican food at an affordable price. This restaurant flies under the radar because of its location, which is hidden off Rowland behind a car dealership, blending itself among the small businesses. Homemade tortillas, sizzling meat, and a large menu for vegetarians, makes Fonda Don Chon one of the best kept secrets in town. Fonda Don Chon offers an affordable lunch buffet from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm for $7.99 a plate. My personal favorite though, hands down is the steak molcajete. This is an enormous volcanic rock dish filled with cooked cactus, queso fresco, pico de gallo, tomatillo sauce topped with Oaxaca melted cheese, and served with rice and beans. This dish is also offered in a seafood version. I truly recommend this spot for those of you who love authentic Mexican food and would enjoy a new experience away from those colossal chain restaurants. Buen provecho!

Senior Andromeda Franco as Eurydice and junior Silas Romero as Orpheus rehearse a melancholy, but romantic scene on Jan. 17th. Franco described that Hadestown is an upcoming musical that she was excited to premiere on campus. “Hadestown is such an interesting musical, it's not really a musical that a lot of people know about, but I think it’s gained a lot more popularity as more people hear about it,” said Franco.

Junior Celeste Carrillo writes in her planner and regularly reviews her calendars to help her achieve her goals this year. Carrillo bought a planner to manage her time and stay organized. “I learned that I need to have a lot more time management,” said Carrillo.
