Fall began last month and it’s time for all things fall. Since it began, the weather has started cooling down; yesterday it rained. This weather makes the changing of seasons noticeable and prepares for fall activities for people because of the holidays or weather, like baking, pumpkin carving or painting. These activities are some of the reasons that fall is the best season of the year.
Fall weather has become more noticeable because of it cooling down and raining; according to the National Weather Service in West Covina, the weather will be in the high 70s and low 80s. Around this time of the year, it gets progressively colder, offering a break from the heat of summer.
Junior Isabel Merino Ibanez loves the weather that accompanies fall. She describes it being the perfect temperature and how pretty sunsets are because of the colors.
“I’ve noticed that the sunsets they’re orange and red. They’re more orange and red, and they’re more brighter. And they’re just, they just stand out more to me than like sometimes in the summer or in the winter,” Merino Ibanez said.
The weather change makes it the perfect time to cozy up on the couch or do fun fall activities, these include holiday activities for Halloween, Día de Muertos, and Thanksgiving. Halloween is a big part of fall, according to junior Alyssa Herrera, as it comes with many fun themed activities. She loves fall because it’s the perfect time for one of her favorite scary activities.
“I love to watch the movie ‘Scream’, the first one. I think that’s just perfect to start off this spooky season,” Herrera said.

With all the possible activities the cost can build up. Watching movies can be costly because of multiple subscriptions and renting movies.
These activities can be found at various prices, the least expensive would be trick-or-treating where people make their own costumes at home , like skull face paint or dressing up as a character with similar clothes too and go around the neighborhood. Pumpkin carving can be done with mini pumpkins and supplies from the grocery store to make it more affordable. Pumpkins run for about $3.50 at Sprouts and carving kits are $9.99 at Michaels.
More activities for fall can be something as simple as Thanksgiving dinner, where it is fun to spend time with family, cook and make baked goods.
Another fun activity is to rewatch “Gilmore Girls”, a show on Netflix. “Gilmore Girls” is reminiscent of fall because of the color scheme and nature in it. As well as encouraging improvement to achieve things with the main character Rory Gilmore, who is always trying to improve. This inspires watchers when they begin watching it in fall.
“I feel like fall is kind of like a symbol of like letting go so new beginnings,” Merino Ibanez said.
