With the class of 2025 wrapping up their final week of high school they look back on all of their relationships, personal experiences, and varying accomplishments. Each graduate leaves bulldog country with a unique story and although t may be no definite best year, some of these seniors spoke with Insight and shared which one they found to be their favorite.
Freshman year, according to senior Elena Amaya, is special because everything is ripe with opportunity for students as they navigate through a new environment. She felt as if it was the highlight of her high school experience, differing from the rest of the other years as she felt more welcome first coming to school.

“It did feel a little unusual, because they’re all upperclassmen, but they treated me so nice and with so much respect that I just enjoyed it,” Amaya said.
As she went on with her struggles, she became more aware of herself as a person and what she would be capable of in the future.
“I learned a lot more, I learned from my personal struggles and I learned to like, try not to let things get under my skin as much, and not to lose focus on what’s most important,” Amaya said.
Junior year is considered one of the most stressful years due to the pressures students feel to perform well academically and set themselves up for college . This isn’t true for everyone however as some people such as senior Destiny Calvillo shared that it was their favorite due to the teachers and friends who helped her throughout her journey to success. Calvillo dedicates her teachers, such as history teacher Thomas Evans and former math teacher (her first name) Zhou to help her succeed.
“I felt like I wasn’t intelligent enough to be taking her AP Bio class and I wanted to give up and I even wanted to switch out, but it was because of who she was as a person that made me stay,” said Calvillo.
Along with being surrounded by her friends, junior year made an impact on her character and made her look forward to learning more as the teachers are what made the lessons more fun to learn about.
Senior year is generally celebrated as it brings the joy of graduating and participating in more events as students get more involved with the school. Senior Abigail Barrios credits her senior year as being the highlight of her high school career as it allowed her to express herself more freely through fashion and building new friendships.
“I give credit to fashion into just really motivating me to just really get up and go to school because it kinda just makes me feel like there is good things in life also because it helps me express who I really am,” said Barrios.
While dealing through difficulties, she pulls through with the friends she made along the way when she started to express herself, crediting the fact that she did not focus on the opinions of others of what she may wear.
People’s opinions on their favorite year of high school vary as their experiences that shaped them into the students they are today are distinct from one another’s. Despite having the same four years throughout high school, each person has their own unique experiences and memories of the people and memorable moments in high school, making a year more unique than the other.
