The annual Los Angeles county fair opened its doors to the public on May 2, revealing its theme and slogan “Art Unleashed.” The event offers various activities for visitors including food stands, attractions, games, concerts, shops and more. People can purchase their day tickets or annual passes and parking online or in person on the LA County Fair’s website. Single day ticket prices vary depending on the day starting at $15 and more. Tickets are $32 at the door.
According to their website, the fair is open from May 2 to May 26 with usual activities like games and ride attractions and special acts from performers like Los Tucanes de Tijuana, a Mexican norteño band, and Shaggy, a Jamaican-American artist. Additionally, there are ticket booths for people to buy tickets for the fair’s games where they can win prizes like sports balls or stuffed animals, along with the attractions there like the ferris wheel, bumper cars, and the slingshot .
“I like going to the fair and I like the food and rides. The food is good, but a bit overpriced and the rides are fast and worth the price,” junior Jaylynn Rodriguez said.
Different food booths offer corn dogs, funnel cakes, fried oreos, corn on the cob and turkey legs, as well as more uncommon foods like fried frog legs, pickle lemonade and fruity pebble burgers.
Aside from the attractions, other areas that people can visit include the Big Red Barn that houses animals like cows, pigs, goats and sheep along with a petting area where people can pet and feed the goats and sheep. The fair also includes an area with reptiles and insects that people can look at and a garden with crops for people to learn about.
Observable inside and outside of the barn are areas offering a small demonstration on how to milk cows and goats with the milk available for purchase.
Other activities include temporary tattoo and henna stations, face painting, customized spray-painted t-shirts, pig races, the art gallery in connection with the fair’s theme, lowriders on display, and plazas and booths that offer miscellaneous items from other booths like hats, backpacks, jewelry, and more.
There are only five days left for people to go to the LA county fair. Despite its short time in Los Angeles, the fair offers various opportunities for people and provides ways for them to enjoy themselves every year.
