Renaissance hosted their Nickelodeon themed end of the year rally today that included rally events like group performances, recognition of students and teachers, and spirit games, along with a themed spirit week.

Renaissance, with help from Link Crew and Associated Student Body (ASB), spent weeks preparing for the rally and events.
“The rally setup has gone really well. We tried something a little different by delegating action items in a new way and it really paid off. Of course we did hit a few minor bumps, mostly some confusion about tasks… but nothing we couldn’t handle. It’s been great seeing everyone problem solving and supporting each other,” senior and Renaissance chair Carson Ranabauer said.
With this being the seniors’ last rally, they entered through the inflatable bulldog and walked through a path formed by the cheer team and staff, a sentimental moment as it marks a step closer to their last few days before graduation.

“It’s exciting. I’m ready to get out of here but also like, I enjoyed it, you know, spending one last rally with my friends,” senior Amy Zetino said.
Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC) and choir opened the rally by presenting the colors and singing the national anthem. Emcees Jacquelynn Barraza and Jessica Chavez, both seniors, led the rally as Sam and Carly from Nickelodeon’s iCarly show. The performances were then held throughout with Society of Music beginning the rally. Following was cheer’s stunt team, jazz band, color guard, DUB C., and concluded with the drumline performance.
Within the rally, Renaissance presented their top 10 students for each class as well as listing their top 10 inspirational teachers. Math teacher Ms. Walton was awarded the top teacher of the year, voted for by seniors. They also presented retiring biology and human anatomy teacher Sharon Pedersen, then head football coach Mike Maggiore and english teacher and Renaissance advisor Erin Reid with special announcements thanking them for their work on campus as they now move on to a new chapter in their life.

Following the rally, the school hosted the last Boost Day of the year that gave students an hour before lunch to buy food from food trucks, play games and decompress before AP tests and as a way to relax before spring break.
Students purchased food and snacks from the following food vendors:
- Rawbert’s Acai
- Patty Meets Bun
- Birria El Patron 818
- Boba Tea Lounge
- Lena Mexican & American BBQ
- Italia Pasta e Pizza
- Gochu Gang
- Fluff Ice
- Cali Sweets
- Ice Cream Truck
Alongside the food, students had the option of the following activities:
- Arcade games
- Inflatables
- Ping Pong tables
- Giant connect four
Classes were shortened to 26 minutes to make room for the day’s events. The combined events allowed for students to socialize and take a break with friends.
“It was really nice you know it made the day go by pretty easy and it was pretty fun to get to hang out with friends for a long time immediately after the rally,” junior Joshua Odulio said.
