Athletic Leadership Council (ALC) held their annual dodgeball tournament from April 1 to April 10 that consisted of eight teams that went head-to-head based on a bracket ALC chose. On the first day, all teams competed to win in the championship bracket. On the second day, the teams that did not advance in the championship bracket moved to the consolation bracket, where they competed to be the winner in that separate bracket.
The dodgeball games connected students in a different way than they are used to outside of their phones and personal cliques.
“Some people need to play because they need to get some energy at lunch. I think, hopefully, it brings people in the gym to hang out and have conversations instead of just staring at their phones all day,” said ALC advisor and math teacher Jason Heilman.
Eight teams played on the first day with the teams that won being Los Pollos Hermanos, LP Warriors, C-Town Rankers, and Beemers, that left the Thunderballz, Mark Meats, Bush Bluds, and Le Dodge James to the consolation bracket.

On the second day, all the teams played again in the competition. The LP Warriors defeated C-Town Rankers, Beemers defeated Viltrumites, Mark Meats defeated Thunderballz, and Bussin Bluds defeated LeDodge James.
The third day saw the LP Warriors defeat Viltrumites, C-Town Rankers defeated Los Pollos Hermanos, Bussin Bluds defeated Thunderballz, and Mark Meats defeated LeDodge James.
The next day, only six of the teams competed after LeDodge James and Thunderballz were eliminated. Beemers defeated C-Town Rankers, Mark Meats defeated Los Pollos Hermanos, and Viltrumites defeated Bussin Bluds.

A lightning round between Los Pollos Hermanos and Viltrumites took place on the fifth day, when the former came out victorious. The semi finals were LP Warriors versus Los Pollos Hermanos and Mark Meats versus Beemers. LP Warriors and Beemers were the winners of their respective games.
The final game took place Wednesday and it was between last year’s winners – the LP Warriors and Beemers for the championship, making this a challenging matchup. The Beemers emerged victorious as the dodgeball champions for the 2024-2025 school year.
“I had a lot of fun playing with my friends for my senior year. It felt good to beat them because they were three-time champs, and we finally got the matchup we deserved,” senior and competitor in the Beemers team Francisco Barrios said.

The Beemers held their title of dodgeball champions yesterday when they defeated the team composed of staff. Their victories are reminders not to underestimate the underdog.
