Valentine’s Day, a holiday that celebrates love and friendships, is celebrated globally. As teenagers begin to find love, whether platonic or romantic, the holiday allows for them to express their admiration by encouraging gift giving and acts of kindness. On Valentine’s Day, many students around campus participated in this tradition and gave their significant other or friends gifts like balloons, candies, flowers, or gift baskets. Here’s a look at some students on campus and their personal celebrations.
Junior Jaelynn Quinones and senior Angelina May sit with their Valentine’s Day grams during Link Crew class after they passed out candy and Valentine’s cards. Many people, including May, enjoy Valentine’s Day because it is a day where she can see the happiness love brings to people, either in a relationship or among friends. “I honestly feel like Valentine’s Day is a day to spend with loved ones and to love yourself as well. It’s a day of love which does not necessarily mean that you have to be in a relationship, being in a relationship with yourself or showing your friends and family that you love them is equivalent to having a significant other,” said May.
