Leaving school every day, we have become accustomed to seeing crowds of kids swarm the streets. Packs of these young miscreants clog the sidewalks in every direction as they head off to their divers destinations, accompanied by that traffic we all know and love. However, a more concerning sight is the mob that converges on Cameron Park every day. Not too long after they settle under the gazebos, smoke clouds can be seen wafting through through the air, bearing the skunky scent of marijuana. It seems to me like every time I go to the park somebody tries to sell me drugs or pass me a joint.
This problem has gotten so far out of hand that police had to come through and clear everybody out a few weeks ago. Why can’t they just do that more often? These juvenile delinquents are polluting our peaceful park atmosphere with their stinky blunts. Not only do they scare everyone away with their constant drug use, this pack of stoners represents a real threat to the health and safety of our students. By allowing this haven of drugs and debauchery to thrive right across the street, we put students in harm’s way every day as they walk home.
Something must be done, before things escalate even further. The school administration and police have to cooperate to shut down this nonstop Bob Marley concert from happening on public property. These students, alumni, and other ne’er-do-wells flaunt the law daily, as if their actions were totally legal. Just as a reminder, possession of marijuana is a serious crime, and can carry major consequences. This toxic plant has been ruining lives for countless years, yet we still allow it to persist in our culture. These stoners represent just one tiny facet of a larger social issue; yet if we are to do anything about it, we must start right across the street.

Ruining lives? seriously? This sounds like the script to an after-school special from the 60’s.
