David Beeken retires, leaving a legacy of teaching

Throughout the 35 years David Beeken has taught at West Covina High School, he has impacted the lives of many students and helped them gain a better understanding of life and the obstacles they may face. He  captured the hearts of his students, becoming one of the most loved and appreciated teachers on campus. His classroom played a big role in who he is and is a time capsule full of memories.

“He’s probably one of the best teachers on our campus and so he’s definitely one of those foundationals that has made Bulldog Country what it is, and so his participation in, his input, all of that is definitely going to be missed by all of us. I know for a fact that those who understand him and those who get him have definitely been impacted in their life, in terms of not just classroom skills, but life skills,” said Social Science Department Chair Phuong Hoang, who also teaches government and economics, and AVID.

Senior class president Ava Palacio talks about her vision for senior year. She has been president for the past four years and she has developed a close connection with her class, so she plans to make this last year as memorable as possible for them. “I want to have more events and a bunch of seniors are like ‘Oh I remember that’ or ‘I remember having such a good time,’” said Palacio.

Joshua Gonzalez playing at his most successful event at the Pico Rivera Sports Arena on January 6, although feeling anxious and overwhelmed with the big crowd Gonzalez pushed through in the moment and concentrated on playing the bass. “I was feeling very nervous honestly, like it was so unreal,” said Gonzalez.

Senior Mya Salama’s fall outfit consists of a Forever 21 tank top, a thrifted flannel and white sneakers. Salama draws inspiration from streetwear with a seasonal touch by combining baggy jeans with a brown flannel and takes a relaxed approach to putting together her outfits. Salama’s two favorite stores to shop at to achieve her easy going style are Tilly’s and PacSun. “My favorite stores I feel like Tilly’s maybe… PacSun, Tilly’s and yeah I think that's it,” said Salama.
With changing leaves come changing outfits

Burks specified that although he likes crop tops and long jorts, personality and kindness are more important qualities in potential partners than style. “As long as they have a good heart and are funny that's all you really need,” said Burks.
Unleashing Olympians in a mythical spirit week

This club shows the importance of Asian culture and covers the different Asian cultures. “Triple AC is a way to spread Asian American appreciation and to learn more about the diversity of many cultures that Asia has, and to try and spread awareness,” said Isip.
Club Rush lineup caters to everyone's interest
At 6:45 p.m., the football team started their usual pregame chant “give me two beats, give me two claps, ooh ah,” to get their players riled up. The evening officially began with the Bulldogs sprinting through the West Covina banner as the cheer team surrounded them and the stands erupted in excitement for kickoff.
Kings conquered for the first time in four years
Graduates throw caps in celebration of the ceremony’s conclusion. “I wouldn't have wanted my chapter at WCHS to end any differently,” said Gabby Gutierrez.

Italy is credited as being the birthplace of the Renaissance and host to artistic masterpieces whereas California is more typically known for beaches and national parks. When in Rome you see museums, art, and churches. Even the smallest churches in Rome have many walls of art everywhere that the public can see and take pictures of.
