February 10, 2023
This year’s Super Bowl is a face-off between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. For the Chiefs, this is quarterback Patrick Mahomes second super bowl appearance and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts first.
According to the StatsMuse website, operated by StatMuse Inc., a company that hosts a database of sports statistics, the Chiefs have a season record of 16-3, a total of 5,771 passing yards, 45 passing touchdowns, 374 rushing yards and 4 rushing touchdowns. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is the Chief’s biggest weapon, having the most targets from Mahone with 110 successful catches and 1,338 yards this season with 12 touchdowns in the back field. The Chiefs have running back Isiah Pacheco, who is averaging 4.9 yards a carry and has 374 yards on the season. The Chiefs biggest downfall is their defense that hasn’t produced much this season.
The Eagles this season have shocked the country with their first Super Bowl birth since the 2017 season. The Eagles haven’t had nearly as good of a season on the offensive side of the ball as the Chiefs statistically, but they do produce when they need to but havent had many blow out games. The Eagles have a 16-1 record with 3,976 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns, 833 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns. Offensive running back Miles Sanders who is averaging 4.7 yards a run. DeVonta Smith wide receiver had 88 catches for 1,129 yards and scored 7 touchdowns in 16 games between the 2022 and the 2023 season according to statmuse.com
The Eagles biggest weapon is their defense. All around they have the best defense from top to bottom with stand out linebacker Haason Redick with 34 solo tackles, 5 fired and 16 sacks.
Senior Zacharias Requena thinks the Eagles will win 35-17 along with Junior Ian Aceavado. Junior Daniel Martienez, however, thinks the Chiefs are going to win. The Super Bowl this year will be held on Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
Going by the numbers the Chiefs should have a blow out game and take the win with no trouble but the Eagles defensive plan would have to be to stop tight end Travis Kelce. The Chiefs offensive line will have to figure out how to stop the Eagles first round draft pick 6’6 335 pound Jordan Davis who doesn’t have the numbers on paper to be a good player but fills his gaps very well. The Eagles should take the win over the Chiefs if they execute their job each and every play.
