Class of 2022 kicked off senior year in person with Senior Sunrise the morning of Friday, Aug. 27 on Thyberg Field.

Students brought their own blankets and chairs, and dressed in comfortable attire for the morning weather, and watched as the sun came over the field. Breakfast items such as cereal, doughnuts, and coffee were available for those in attendance. There were photo opportunities and students enjoyed the time they had with their friends and the induction of their senior year.

Seniors are grateful for the opportunities they are going to have and hopefully these exclusive senior events will continue over the course of the year. Senior Angela Tampubolon said, “We made our events online our junior year and being able to come back to make in-person events happen has been a blessing.”

Class of 2022 is feeling the excitement as they come back on campus and are experiencing their last year of high school on campus, with some minor guidelines due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. As of now, students are required to have masks on in classrooms but are allowed to take them off outside during breaks to eat or drink.

From going to sophomores to juniors in, what felt like the blink of an eye, seniors are also feeling the nervousness of being the newest senior class back on campus and not through a computer screen.

“It felt as if there was a sort of normalcy in the world right now,” Tampubolon said, on the topic of in-person learning. Now that class of 2022 is getting the on-campus senior experience, it is evident they plan to make it the best they can.
