A lot of seniors feel that their final year in high school is moving as fast as ever. “The four best years of your life are toppled onto with responsibilities reaching out and forcing you to deal with them. This semester has a bittersweet feeling,” says Jocelyn Mendoza when asked how it feels for this semester to be her final last one. Mendoza, who is also ASB president, is excited for the upcoming senior events; her final prom, and the idea that graduation is coming closer each day frightens her that time is running low. “I want to make sure that I do as much,” she says and wants to experience as much as she can in these last few months.
As she is fending off the dangerous case of “senioritis” which she describes as “an ongoing battle” that she needed to overcome as she finished her college applications. However, she is motivated to end her last semester off strong and with more motivation that she’s ever had. Mendoza also feels that there is still enough time for more growth and hopes to achieve from expanding her relationships and involvement here at West Covina High School before she goes. She also finished off saying that “it doesn’t even feel like senior year” and how in the end she predicts that graduation will have a “sweet relief ending that we can all look back on.”
