If you have been on social media or paying attention to the news lately, you have heard of all the sex scandals in Hollywood that have recently arose. Now there is a new accusation on The Voice winner and American singer Melanie Martinez.

Recently, an ex-friend of Melanie’s named Timothy Heller tweeted out saying that Martinez had molested her for two nights straight at a sleepover the two had even though she said “no” both times. Fans of Martinez were shocked to hear that the singer would do or be accused of such a thing. Of course, this caused the Crybaby fandom to split a part: one half still supporting the singer while believing Heller and the other half completely shunning the singer and saying that they are no longer fans. They went as far as ruining their merch and starting the hashtags #Melaniemartinezisoverparty and #Melaniemartineziscancelled.

Some fans, like me, did not know what to make of it. We have questions like “Is this something she would do?” “Did she do it?” and “How well do we actually know her?” A few amount of Crybabies are neutral and don’t know what to say. It is such a shock that she would be accused of something like this since she gives off such a “bubblegum sweet girl” vibe.

For a bit, the singer stayed silent until she logged back on to Twitter and tweeted out that “ is horrified and saddened by the statements and story told by Timothy Heller.” She goes on to say that they had a close friendship for a long time and helped each other as artists. She says that “ both had pain in dealing with individual demons and the new paths were forging, but truly felt were trying to lift each other up.” Martinez says that Heller never said “no” to any of their activities and says that she still sends her “love and light always” even though they have went their separate ways. The news was not expected, and myself along with others hope the news is not true. It would be deeply saddening and disappointing if it is.
