As some of you may know, Justin Timberlake has been given permission to perform during the Super
Bowl LII halftime show on Feb. 4, 2018 after being banned for several years. Timberlake and Janet Jackson were banned due to an incident that happened during the performance in 2004. The incident occurred near the ending of the halftime show during the Super Bowl XXXVIII. Jackson and Timberlake were performing the song “Rock Your Body” and Timberlake accidentally pulled off a piece of her clothing that revealed her front torso.
Ever since the day that the announcement came out saying he was welcomed back, people have been debating over the topic whether Timberlake should be able to perform while leaving Jackson banned. I feel that this would be unfair for Jackson because the incident was not in her control. I think that if Timberlake is allowed to perform again, Jackson should be too.
After finding out what had happened between the two performers, I felt bad for them considering that the incident was broadcasted in front of millions of viewers. Both had been criticized for what had happened by everyone. If nothing can be done about Jackson not being allowed to perform, than the NFL should at least have a message or a report on the situation.
