After 29 years of teaching,18 with West Covina, teacher Candace Franck is retiring. Franck teaches Chemistry and AP Environmental Science. Ms. Franck is a phenomenal teacher and is loved by many students, but because of where she wants to be in life, she feels that it is her time to leave West Covina and to go do something for the Earth and make a positive change.
“I’m retiring because I think it’s time to do something for the environment. My plan is to become a park ranger and to write to environmental groups and see what I can do to help out our environment,” Franck said.
Franck really cares about the environment, and after 29 years of teaching, she wants to make a change by going out into the world and doing what she has always said she wanted to do with the environment.
“I’ve always really cared about the environment, so now it’s time to put my money where my mouth is and to get out there,” Franck said.
She has had so many students and even more memories with many kids in this school. One of the best feelings to her is when she knows one of her students succeeds or when she knows that she made a change in a student’s life.
“One of my favorite moments as a teacher at West Covina High School was the first time I was teaching AP Environmental Science and I made the statement “most of the world lives on less than one dollar a day.” One of my students was very moved by this quote because he thought to himself that it’s impossible to live on one dollar a day and realized how hard life is for people around the world,” Franck said.
Franck has always cared for her students and loves to see them succeed and move forward in life. She likes it when students take something from what she taught into their future because she then knows that someone can make a change all because of her. Franck also felt that everybody should stop hating everybody and come closer because we all live on this world.
“Everybody needs to be nice to each other, and as the world gets smaller, we need to be close and care for one another,” Franck said.
