Students have been using their phones and other smart technology in order to use apps and other social media websites in order to make themselves public in the world and connect with other people and friends. Although students use these after school, at their homes or during the days of no school, they continue to use their smart devices in school and during class.
Anyone has an account for an social media site or app have their reasons for using those sites yet not many people understand the point of having a social media account or just choose to not have a social media account. Students use Facebook or Twitter to connect with people across the globe who share similar beliefs, thoughts, ideas, and other such qualities to become more socially acceptable. Although others, including me, don’t have such accounts, we still get accepted by society from the friends we make the old fashion way, talking to random people and becoming acquaintances and then becoming friends. There really isn’t a problem with having or not having a social media account and using it frequently.
However the use of social media apps and websites does have an affect on people, and can cause many horrible problems.
By creating a social media account on Facebook or Twitter, you open yourself to literally everyone in the world. This means that people who are experienced in the technology field can hack into your account and steal very sensitive information from you that you really don’t want others to find out. Even if you don’t get hacked, other people are going to judge you for everything on your account, whether it be criticism or not. The criticism can severely damage a student’s own self-esteem should they be unable to properly accept it.
Social media can affect students in many ways, some good, some bad, yet no matter how issues show up from many different problems social media can bring, students and many other people still use their social media accounts.
