Clint Eastwood’s latest movie, “Sully,” is a true story about a pilot by the name of Chesley Sullenberger who successfully executes an emergency water landing on the Hudson River.

The film stars Tom Hanks, Anna Gunn, and Aaron Eckhart. ”Sully” is a retelling of the miracle on the Hudson, as well as the aftermath of it. Once people began to doubt whether or not he could have made it to the runway or if he endangered the people’s lives by landing on the river, the public and media scrutiny soon begins to develop around this man.
The movie opens brilliantly with the event already taking place, and right away the viewer is drawn. From the beginning of the film, we are immediately shown Sullenberger involved with the media and public scrutiny, trying to figure out what’s going on. Towards the end of the first act, we are shown the first flashback sequence, where we are able to go back and see the full events that took place on that day.
The film constantly takes you from the present to the past through flashback sequences. Although this might work at times, the film might have been more compelling in chronological order. However, the film does have a good feeling of suspense that leaves the viewer hooked throughout the entire thing.
Overall, “Sully” is a fantastic film that constantly leaves the viewer questioning what will happen next. Eastwood does a fantastic job directing the movie, and the entire cast of the film performs excellently.
