There recently has been talk that a Dunkin Donuts will be opening in the South Hills Plaza, which is the same plaza as Rainbow Donuts. Rainbow Donuts has been serving customers for about twenty-eight years and now they finally have a competition. This has upset many, but caused joy for other West Covina residents.
Sing Yam, the owner of Rainbow Donuts, has started a petition to convince the property owner and city to change the location of Dunkin Donuts. She received about 2,000 signatures from loyal customers.
In all honesty, I prefer Dunkin Donuts because the prices are cheaper than Rainbow Donuts. At Rainbow Donuts, they have a box of a dozen donuts for $12, and at Dunkin Donuts for a dozen they are $10. At Rainbow Donuts, they also overprice the drinks. Instead of paying a dollar for an Arizona Iced Tea, they charged two dollars. No one wants to pay extra for food. The good thing is that at both shops, they sells their donuts for a dollar.
Another reason I prefer Dunkin Donuts is because the place will be brand new compared to Rainbow Donuts. As soon as you walk into Rainbow Donuts, the place is uncomfortably hot and pretty small. How could a person enjoy their donuts in that kind of environment?
Dunkin Donuts has a large variety of bright colored and delicious cream-filled donuts to choose from. They range from blue, pink, yellow, green, and even purple donuts. I like to get the sprinkled donuts, and there’s several colors to choose from. Whereas at Rainbow Donuts, you can only get the regular glaze with sprinkles or a chocolate donut. Furthermore, Rainbow Donuts does have a lot to offer in their shop from the lottery tickets to shakes, but when it comes to donuts, they have the basic chocolate bar and twisted glaze.
It is sad that there is a possibility of Rainbow Donuts closing; however, if Rainbow Donuts does close, the customers could learn to love Dunkin Donuts.
