It’s the time to give and with Christmas approaching, the Cause Club is in the holiday spirit.
From October to the end of November, the Cause Club, directed by Norma Barreto, will be collecting shoe boxes in room K14. This project was influenced by Samaritan’s Purse, which is in charge of it and is located in Pasadena.
The Cause Club first heard about the project, formerly called “Operation Shoe Box,” through one of its members, Zaemely Ramos. Ramos’ church, La Casa de Refugio, also participates in this special project for the less fortunate.
“Toys, school supplies, basic necessities, and any other items that may be useful to people are also being accepted to be put into the special boxes,” Cause Club president Justin Arteaga said.
In addition to donating boxes, the Cause Club will also be decorating these boxes with paint or wrapping paper to make them look like Christmas presents. If anyone is interested in helping the club, workshops are held every Friday after school in room K14.
Once the boxes are filled and decorated, the Cause Club sends the boxes to Samaritan’s Purse in a location in Pasadena.
Samaritan’s Purse then sends the boxes to poor communities all over the world, in Africa, South America and Asia. The boxes are usually received around Christmas time.
