Nine year English teacher Tonatzin Rodriguez was awarded teacher of the year for the English Department for 2015.
She was very flattered and honored that she was nominated once again by her fellow teachers and that she actually won. She was very humbled with winning the award and felt that there were so many others who were well deserving of this award also.
Rodriguez has many hobbies, but her main passion is running. She loved running so much that she was on her high school track team.
She is also very involved here at WCHS; she is the adviser of the National English Honors Society, which helped her organize the writing center to help students of all grade levels better improve their writing skills this year. In addition she is the co-adviser for the Class of 2017.
Rodriguez felt honored just to be nominated, and was not expecting to win.
“To me doesn’t matter just because it’s so nice being recognized by my colleagues, so it really doesn’t matter to me if I get it or not and all the other teachers that have been nominated for the department are all amazing,” said Rodriguez
She wants to thank everyone for who nominated her for the award.
