Newsbytes interviewed Howard Lui who was selected as Teacher of the Year for the Special Education department.
Lui first started working at WCHS in 2011. Lui is a special education teacher, girls volleyball coach, tennis coach, class of 2016 advisor, and the department head for special education. Lui is very involved at Bulldog Country. He loves that WCHS is a family community.
“Everyone is very welcoming and friendly,” said Lui.
Everyone has a purpose for something. Lui’s purpose for working with the special education department was to find the perfect click to help them learn and understand the concepts that they need to know; he wants them to experience high school in all aspects. He enjoys interacting with his students and watching them learn.
“There is a way for everyone to learn.” said Lui
Aside from being a teacher on campus, Lui has been a waiter, coach and many other jobs. He defines the phrase “busy man”.
He is able to manage everything because of his leadership skills and supportive staff. Lui’s goal is to be able to see everyone walk on stage at graduation and wants nothing more than to see everyone be successful.
“Everyone is out for the same goal,” said Lui.
