Umami Burger might be one of the better burger chain restaurants out in the market right now, with the fact that there are already plenty of locations in LA, and they all just keep getting better.
My overall experience at the Pasadena location would receive a solid 5 stars. The total ambiance was laid back and inviting. On a Saturday afternoon, this location had absolutely no wait. Our server was attentive, and accommodating, walking around making sure she was at a distance where she can help make our experience better.
The signature Original burger can make your taste buds explode with sensory overload, from the soft brioche like bun, to the crunchiness from the parmesan crisp. The key to it’s success is the burger’s capability of hitting all six savory elements at once, thus creating the Umami experience. It’s as if you have alien taste buds for the next 30 mins you’re enjoying your meal.
Another dish I ordered was the truffle fries, they are seriously addicting, on top of the skinny cut fries, it’s topped with this ooey gooey cheese concoction that is bursting with flavor. These fries are sinful and spectacular. You can’t have just one.
For a complete meal, it was quite pricey on a “high schooler’s” budget, with it being a total of $20 including the tax and tip.
Fun Fact : For those that don’t know, every Umami location delivers their own special burger, this spot was known for their “Le Cordon Bleu Burger.” The Pasadena exclusive was specially designed by local students at Pasadena College of Culinary Arts. Within the burger, it delivers a braised chicken patty stuffed with prosciutto, bacon and mornay cheese sauce, lemon cream spinach spread, and micro herb salad with whole grain mustard vinaigrette.
