Ever thought of having something other than turkey for your main dish on Thanksgiving? Perhaps, hot cheesy pizza instead? If you have or have not, “Free Birds” takes you back in time where in this case humans are not the one traveling for Thanksgiving but, the turkey. Their goal? To take themselves off the menu.
The newly released movie came out to theaters, November 1st, directed by Jimmy Hayward. In “Free Birds” the turkeys, Reggie (Owen Wilson) and his new found friend Jake (Woody Harrelson), finds their way to a time machine named S.T.E.V.E. that takes them back in time to save the turkeys. Along the way they meet new friends, learning more about one another, going through obstacles, and finding a flock that cares. One of the turkeys they meet along the way, Jenny (Amy Poehler), who has a brother named Ranger (Jimmy Hayward) who belongs to a flock in danger of being killed for Thanksgiving.
Reggie was raised on a farm, he told all the other turkeys that they are being fattened to eaten for Thanksgiving, yet no one listened. He felt like the odd ball out, having no friends, and no one that would listen. He then one day became the Pardoned Turkey; a few days afterwards he’s captured by Jake to go on a secret mission: To take turkeys off the menu. As their mission continues the two find their way to the first Thanksgiving. During the adventure, Jake soon realizes how much others cared for him and who he really is. As for Reggie he finds a flock of turkeys who really appreciate him. For these simple reasons, it gave them more courage to work harder together to try to complete their task. However, with all the difficulties they had to go through will they ever be able to finish off the big responsibility they have?
This movie has a great, funny, and heart-warming story within and is recommended to all ages and to those who love a simple comedy animation. This movie is recommended to watch because it shows that no matter whom you are you are capable of something and one day you will succeed.
