When most people think of wings, they think of spicy chicken that’s guaranteed to make you run to the nearest water faucet. However, at Wing Stop, they have a diverse variety of flavors; and not all of them have such a fiery affect if you weren’t looking for one. The flavors meet every standard your taste buds agree with and leave them aching for yet another bite.
Founded in 1944, Wing Stop has over 500 restaurants across the United States and reaching out to Mexico. The nearest location to WCHS is in La Puente; hidden behind a shopping center.
The space is very limited, especially if you visit on the day of a greatly anticipated televised game. You will find every table filled with people cheering and their mouths stained with sauce. Unless you want to watch an eventful sports game, it is recommended to take home your meal.
The cooks make sure each individual wing has just the right amount of sauce and each fry doesn’t have too much seasoning- which is time consuming. You may have to wait for about 20 minutes, and it would be better to call in your order before you arrive, which is exactly what I did.
By the time I arrived, the food had been prepared and was ready, which was good, because the small space was taken up by many people. From the menu of sauces and wings, I chose to share 15 piece mild flavored boneless wings for around $10. Wing Stop also offers chicken strips, glider sandwiches, and a small variety of sides beside fries. Depending on how many wings you order, you can get up to 4 different flavors. The hottest flavor is atomic, and soon after is their newest flavor, mango habanero, and the flavors go down a scale based on their spiciness. The bottom of the scale is teriyaki, which has a sweeter taste.
While eating, you should be cautious to your wings; the sauce drips from the wing as you bite into the juicy wing. The outer layer wasn’t soft but wasn’t hard, it was a perfect in between. The sauce made the wings a bright orange-red, which tells you that the sauce was put on evenly and just as it should be. The chicken on the inside was bright white, compared to the outer layer of the wing. The flavor of the chicken and the sauce combined made my taste buds beg for just one more, although I was full. The seasoned fries had just the right amount of salt and seasoning, and although slightly soggy, they still tasted phenomenal. But, you must be careful with the fries; once you have one, you just want more and more.
Next time, I plan on trying out more flavors, and finding out the best flavor that Wing Stop has to offer.
