This summer HBO released a new tv show that shocked viewers with very mature themes. Ex-Disney Channel star, Zendaya, stars in this new show that has been shocking viewers everywhere, as she has never been in a program as explicit before. The show focuses on themes of drug addiction, sexual content, and trauma of different sorts. It discusses heavy topics while keeping a comedic sense throughout the series; although it involves a good amount of dark humor. This series seems to be rising in popularity due to a lot of controversy, since the show is about teens. But the show seems to be fairly educational though because it discusses topics that could be helpful for teenage viewers to watch for guidance. There are trigger warnings just in case, but overall viewing series such as “Euphoria” help teens learn from the errors of the character’s ways. In addition, it reveals teens’ coping skills and portrays real struggles to adolescents that they may suffer from. The series does show explicit content at times, but it is really the audience’s decision if they can truly handle it or not. The program is not for all teens, as there are a lot of triggering topics, but most teens can learn something from “Euphoria” seeing as it portrays a lot of problems that teenagers face today on a regular basis. Viewing something entertaining that also shows the importance of mental health and the effect of society around adolescents today will make it easier for teens to learn something from it. Ultimately, teens today are able to witness realistic problems on TV now and this can create more awareness for the struggles at large. Making this new series an educational one may be something revolutionary that can change adolescents’ lives.
