The Hairspray Musical, held at the Covina theatre from January 25 to Jan 28, is the story of Tracy Turnblad and her journey to the Corny Collins show, the most prestigious show in the nation.
She sees, however, how corrupt the producer is, not allowing “undesirable” girls onto the show. This included Tracy, a short and pudgy dreamer who was only accepted when Corny Collins himself saw the talent in her.
Tracy later embarks on a journey with her mother and father, Edna and Wilbur Turnblad, and some other characters like Seaweed, Stubbs, Motormouth Mabel, and Link, who falls in love with Tracy, to try and stop the segregation of black people in the show, and try to one up her arch-nemesis’ Amber and Velma Von Tussle.
